Free meal

Watching them move

like cattle through

long chutes

waiting in line for free food.

eyes wide grabbing more

and more

and then some more

plates filled they do not speak.

gulping gnashing teeth tear in

making quick work of the little time to dine,

then back for more like an endless buffet,

scurrying like ants with their fare.

more filter in to find

meager crumbs left behind,

sadness of empty bellies to come,

they turn away.

Like greedy vultures picking,

nothing left behind

but the memory of a free work lunch

and those who toiled too long

now empty plate in hand.

I am a sometimes poet on a quest to master the universe of my mind. My writing runs the gamut of nature, off beat, life and basically the world as I see it through the windows of my eyes. Welcome to my blog. Sit a spell in your big comfy armchair or favorite spot and read for a while if it suits and don't forget to leave a comment to let me know who you are and all that jazz. Looking forward to what each day brings and catch you on the flip side of the stars. Peace and blessings.
