Of time and space…a journey

The tiny golden key lay in shadowed dust behind the old stately bed. How long had it been here, who did it belong to and most important, what did it fit?
I searched the closets that lay empty and barren. The smell of ancient days forgotten trapped in webs that hung like lace.
In the back corner a small box lay. I picked it up and dusted off the cover to reveal a lovely pattern etched in the wood of a half-opened door and stars and a crescent moon in the upper corner. I searched and found a hole at the bottom of the box. How odd I thought to put a keyhole underneath. A strange little box in shape, not quite square yet not rectangular. Almost triangular with a few extra corners thrown in. I tried the key and it would not fit. I turned the key the opposite way and it slid in without effort. I was almost afraid at this point, with this ancient little box and it’s forgotten key. What would I find inside? I turned the key and a hissing sound, like air escaping erupted from one of the corners. a small stream of scent, like cedar and oranges and something forgotten drifted to my nose. I remember this scent from when I was a child. I had always connected it to my grandfathers jacket that was never worn. It hung long and dark and I often hid behind it during hide and go seek. I had never been discovered so I found it to be the perfect escape. How that memory returned to me in that moment and I thought I heard his voice from the floors below, although he has been gone for twenty plus years, still….it is his voice beckoning me to open this. I am afraid and I hold the box out away from me and this warming sensation begins to drift up my arms. I notice where the scent escaped there was a small bit of light, almost like a night-light one would use to comfort a small child from the things that go bump in the night. Open it, his voice said from somewhere behind me and I knew it would all be alright. I sat the box upon my lap and began to finish the turn of the key to release the lid. A snap from within, an inner latch opening and a simple music box song began to play. Somewhere in time, the rhapsody of yesterday and pennies came back to me and filled my heart with words that did not need to be spoken. You have returned I thought as tears ran down my dusty cheeks, you have found the door and I, the key….to be continued.

Just a little short story….what do you think I will find in the box? What would you hope the box contains? I leave the journey open to share….please let me know where it goes next in your eyes.

A thousand year death

Journey to my vision
Sleep dreams of particles
Gathering like dust at the edge
Gathering momentum to fall
A thousand-year death
Upon my soul.
How you hang like jewels encrusted
The midnight velvet of whispering thoughts
Ghosts of yesterday rise
To haunt the child alive
As flickering voices return
Their darkness of lies slip through
The haze of forgotten memory
The blistering pain
Of an eclipsed sun seen
On eyes closed to the truth
Pried open to bear witness
To this tiny speck
Of star-dust that fell
And became one with the soul
Opened to receive energy given
To become stronger through blindness
Of what is and what shall be.

Solitary souls (universe moments)

He sits in walls held by memories
Surrounded by the trees that talk of yesterday
He holds her blue heart gently in his hand.

Tales filled with pride and the native man
He understands and speaks silence
As it is his way.

She swings below the summer moon
Black and white world
Broken by the cardinal totem
That flits in her path
Bring color to her days,
As she holds his black stone close to her soul.

He holds his sacred ceremony
Returning to the past to find
All he left behind
His feathered guides bringing him safely
Home again.

She gathers the feathers in wooden drawers
Speaking to the stars of loss and love
And spinning round she wishes for more.

Timeless spaces
Two worlds spinning
Converging
Alike yet so far away
Orbiting closer
To tomorrow when paths shall meet
Collision of the universe
That keeps moving around
To bring forth all that needs to be.

On the other side of reflections

She came to me in dreams
Telling me stories of days before and after
Words unheard for centuries
Falling like stars
And I gathered them up
Throwing them so high
Trying to get them home again
And she laughed.
You cannot return what is all around you,
Cannot fill voids where none exist,
It is in your mind
These darkened places,
See there,
That spark,
That light
It is of you.
She held out the mirror
And I saw flowers and brightness
And eyes looking back into mine
And I was that girl
Just older now
And she laughed.
You are all you are
It is enough
And it is beautiful
For you are not here really
You are just a snapshot once shown
Would seem to be blank
For those who cannot understand
Will never see
And she reached out her hand
Touching the glass
And came forth with a single diamond star
And I took it from her and felt the light
The entire universe I held
I felt the warmth of a hundred Suns
And knew I had found my spirit,
My home
And I laughed.

Lavender skies

Distant storm filters
Light through lavender skies
As he waits somewhere beyond
The memory of yesterday.
Images of moments
Slipping between dreams
Restless she moves reaching out
To feel the emptiness
Of this space of silence.
Winds break the quiet
As rain hits glass
Waves of shudders fill him
As he remembers her scent
And somewhere she waits
In quiet contemplation
Of love denied.
Like the moon rising to touch
The fading light of sun
Moments that will come undone
When United for but a second
A heart will still beat
As it views
The surrender of another day
And they will move forward
To their destination
Together
Apart
Held by invisible thread
As the universe conspires
To live the dream.

Skies alive

The simple stars sing to me
like tiny chimes on high
and I listen in wonder
celestial tunes of bliss.
The colors of the skies
live behind my eyes
as I bask in awe
and indescribable amazement.
The words of the forest speak
in hushed tones of twigs
in thunder of falling branches
I stop to heed their call.
The taste of the winds
so sweet in the saltiness
of a wave crashing down
upon my soul as I stand within her.
The touch of the moon reaches me
in nights of slumber and peace
a sliver of light comes to peer upon
the innocence of dreams.
The universe surrounds me
holding me in the energy
comforting me in joy
pulling me towards
another amazing moment of this life.

Here now

Before me a dream
Mirage of beauty fills
The soul with joy
And you stood there
Like a wish fulfilled.
In your arms I touched
The simple softness
The love like silk
The warmth consumes.
Below stars we sat
And the fire burned down
As the minutes fell away
Like the words spoken
Whispers in the night
Lovers entwined.
The skin so sensitive
Ripples of need move
Raising the awareness
Of humanity’s desire
Lost in your eyes
Locked to the smile
Breathing in your scent
And drifting away
Into the here and now.

Peace enters

The soul waits
Invisible receptacle open
Energy thrums like the ancient waves
Played millions of years
The beat like drums
Soothe.
Light comes to find
The lonely soul waiting
Long years passed and the energy
Slowly slipping
Eyes strain to see
Hands reach to touch
The warmth found
In a distant place.
Drifting dreams Echo
Like canyons of sand
Moving in the blowing wind
Blocking the sight
Swirling it comes to pass
Leaving a residue of dust
The ancient calling
Home again.

The peace field

I don’t know why it was
As I stood in that field of summer
Feeling the sun on my shoulders
And hearing the music as my tribe gathered,
There came to me a sense of peace
A sense that I had been here before
And my mind spoke softly
“No, this is not true” to my soul
Who shrugged it off with mirth,
“You know better my friend”, my soul countering
And I listened to the words
Going back and forth
And I thought this does not matter,
That is neither here nor there,
But now is the moment we are in
And the voices fell silent.
I don’t know why
As I stood in that field
Feeling breathless and free
How I came to be here,
I remember laughing out loud
And seeing the faces peer up at me
As if questioning my joy
But I was not ready yet,
Not to let them in
To share this moment,
This feeling,
In this grass that tickled my feet
And the sound of the bees buzzing
That seemed to grow louder
Their concert of summer and flowers,
Their movement from one to another
And I plucked a small purple clover
Twirling it between my fingers,
I walked to the water’s edge
Feeling the mist of the waterfall beyond
Almost non existent on the breeze,
I dropped the flower into the ripples
And watched it move down stream
Silently
Quietly until it was gone
And turning I looked up at the clouds
And to the sun above
Thinking to myself,
This is it,
Another perfect moment to remember
Another perfect moment once again.

Holding light

I fell in love
With the soul of a universe
Holding its light
Like a million fireflies
In a jar
So,careful with the fragile bounty
Blinded by the miracle
Of it all.
I gave my dreams
Carried on a whispering wind
That fell soft upon the bed of leaves
That lay below your feet
And moved as you walked
Each step closer
To the heart.
I closed my eyes to imagine
The silver spectral light
Of your face in sleep
I touched the softness
The gentle spirit
the breath of peace
And caressed my dream
With beauty.
